THISHURR LLC and The Hurricane Basketball Club Announce Planned Departure from the ABA
HAWTHORNE, FLORIDA — October 15, 2026 — THISHURR LLC and The Hurricane Basketball Club will officially conclude their affiliation with the ABA at the close of the current season. We are grateful for the initial platform and exposure afforded to our organization, and the Hawthorne Hurricane remains fully committed to fulfilling all remaining scheduled obligations to our players, sponsors, and fans.
We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to several individuals who supported our journey: Charles McCants for his precise and effective guidance, Joe Newman for his initial endorsement, and Susie Packard for her steadfast encouragement. Their professionalism stands as a notable highlight during our tenure.
However, as a premier athletic organization, we require a standardized, professional administrative infrastructure to operate effectively. Throughout our time in the league, the franchise documented severe operational deficiencies and chronic communication failures.
Most egregiously, mere hours before the tip-off of our season, our established schedule and approved venue were abruptly revoked despite approval of the secured venue. When formal protests regarding these catastrophic administrative disruptions were raised with league leadership, the official response from the ABA president was simply to advise that "we all can and will make mistakes."
Such a response, offered with a seeming disregard for the resulting fallout, does not meet our baseline standard for fiduciary or operational accountability. This administrative environment directly resulted in thousands of dollars in unrecoverable operational losses, impacted player trust and brand integrity, and severely set back a historic season for our franchise.
Understandably, we simply cannot survive within an administrative structure that relies on such operational volatility rather than vetted, professional support. The Hurricane wishes the ABA well in its future endeavors as our organization transitions toward a more competitive minor leage platform that genuinely aligns with standard professional sports management practices.
Further updates regarding our future affiliations will be announced at the close of the season
